Family Updates

10/08/2003

From Craig Harden

"I would like to personally thank everyone for attending my retirement ceremony in July it really meant a lot to me and my family. It was a very special time. I can’t believe that it’s been 22 years.  We have made the move from Great Lakes to Boardman, Ohio where we are now calling home. Me and Janice have bought our first house and are now are officially in debt up to our &%#. Taylor is staying very busy, she is going to an all day kindergarten, attending daisies (beginning stage of Girl Scouts), continuing with her ice skating lesson’s and starts cheerleading this Saturday. Janice is volunteering at Taylor’s school and is involved with the PTA. As for me; I didn’t realize that the civilian work force works this many hours. I thought 40 hours was the time for the month. Work overall is going really good."

A lot has been going on since the last time we wrote:

Taylor is getting ready to graduate from the Great Lakes Coop Preschool on May 15 , 2003. She is taking ice skating lessons twice a week in hopes of becoming an Olympic figure skater one day. (Picture is of Taylor and her coach Carmen).

With Craig’s retirement from the US Navy approaching rapidly, July 18th, he’s been very busy attending numerous hiring conference’s in the Chicago area. He also received his diploma for an AA in Electronics Technology from Coastline Community College.  We are excited about leaving the military and looking forward to starting a new chapter in our lives

Harden's In ChicagoA lot has been going on here in the windy city. Craig and his family are getting ready for the holidays. They had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Steven and Janice's mother (Martha from Portsmouth , N.H) here to celebrate a nice Thanksgiving.

Taylor celebrated her 5th birthday with her niece and her classmates from the preschool at the Great Lakes Youth Center. After being out of high school for almost 25 years Craig has finally earned his Associate in Arts Degree in Electronics from Coastline Community College.

Janice has been very busy planning Craig's retirement ceremony and party. (He's due to retire from the US Navy in Mid 2003). She also has her hands full in babysitting for some neighbors and raising a new puppy (Chief). To unwind from a busy day she spends her time doing crafts.

Webberville Deer Hunt

Norman and Maxine Harden’s three boys (Mark, Craig, and Jerry W.) all went deer hunting on Mark’s property in Webberville, Michigan. Not only was it an opportunity for the three boys to spend time together, it ended up being a good day for the hunters and a bad day for the deer. You can catch a glimpse of their spoils under the picture section of the web page.

Rene Harden Carducci is in Pinkney.

Mark Harden and Nannette Carducci’s daughter, Rene has relocated from Scottville, Michigan to Pinkney, Michigan. Rene is working two jobs so she could earn enough money to continue her education in the spring semester.

Jeremy Carducci now has over two years at Meijer’s Supermarket  where he has compiled over 500 hours work without being either late or absent. His efforts have earned him the Employee of the Month at his store. Even with Jeremy’s busy schedule he still finds time to serve as the manager of the high school football and wrestling teams!
